Árbol pequeño con forma
de corazón, verde claro, cargado con panojas abundantes de flores
rosadas, seguidas por cápsulas rojas espinosas de fruta, cada una
conteniendo de 30 a 50 semillas cubiertas de un colorante aceitoso del
rojo anaranjado.
Small tree with heart/shaped, bright green leaves, bearing abundant panicles of pink flowers, followed by spiny red fruit capsules, each containing 30-50 seeds covered with an oily red/orange colorant. Kleiner Baum mit hellgrünen, herzförmigen Blättern, mit üppigen rosanen Blumen und dornigen roten Frucht-Kapseln, die jeweils 30-50 Sämenkörner mit einem öligen rot-orangenem Farbstoff enthalten. |

Medicinalmente, las semillas achiote son ingeridas para apaciguar
úlceras del estómago y de los intestinos y malos del hígado, mientras
las infusiones y las decocciones de hojas tradicionalmente ayudan a
aliviar fiebres, dolores de cabeza, bronquitis y diarrea, así como
también para el tratamiento de caspa y para prevenir la pérdida capilar.
Medicinally, achiote seeds are ingested to soothe stomach ulcers and other intestinal and liver complaints, while infusions and decoctions of leaves traditionally help relieve fevers, headaches, bronchitis and diarrhea, as well as treating dandruff and preventing hair loss. Medizinisch werden achiote-Sämenkorner verwendet, um Magen-Geschwüre und andere Darm- und Leberbeschwerden zu behandeln, während Infusionen und Abkochungen von Blättern traditionell bei Fieber, Kopfschmerzen, Bronchitis und Durchfall, Haarverlust und Schuppen. |
